A special YAY for Jaynna! This girl can almost run 2 miles without stopping on her 3rd week!!!

Enjoy the pics!

Race #6 Pics

Joseph somehow dodged the camera.....but I will get him next time and his little doggy too!

Also, I really wish I would have taken pics of our kids cheering us on. So sad!  Better at the color run....I promise!

If you don't use it, you will lose it!

RACE #6.....was the midnight run in Cullman.

I had two people who ran with me this time. (My bff Heather had to work) :(

Now, when I say ran with me I don't me beside me. Joseph Hinson does not know the definition of running with someone.  He blew us away!  I was so glad to see him for a second ;) oh to be 16 and in shape again. I gave him the one day you will be fat and slow talk. He did great I think his time was like 26:00. Wowza, one could only dream.

My sister-in-law Jaynna participated in her very first 5k. I am so proud of her. If you know her, you know running is out of her element.  This girl gave it 100% this week trying to get ready for this race. The best news of all, she is gonna do more races with me. Yay!!!!

I haven't ran too many days in the last few months and buddy it showed. I have had some medical issues come up in the last few weeks as some of you may know.  At one point this week they were trying to rule out aneurysm and congenital birth defect. Yesterday, I found out that aneurysm, stroke, tumor and MS were all ruled out. Praise the Lord. Now, I still have a numb face and vertigo but I will survive! I had a CTA yesterday and the contrast made me a little sick.....that is my excuse for being so slow anyways. I had made my mind up at the beginning of the week i would run regardless of any diagnosis I was given.

Now, race details....
What a hilly little course this was!  600-700 runners were there. If you know Cullman that is a huge turn out. I paid for my laziness, I promise you. I am not ashamed of my time of 40:00, I just use it as a lesson learned. The coolness of the night was a trick....once the running started it was a quick warm up! I sweated like it was noon. I didn't enjoy running at night. I was afraid I would fall on the concrete.....many people did! My ipod music was terrible and I was uninterested. Honestly, every hill I got to I was ready to vomit, cry and fall over. I finished, that is all I can say.

I intend on intense training for the next 14 weeks. Yes, 14 weeks til half marathon. Whoohooo. A mixture of running, spinning and swimming is the plan.

Thanks for the support these past few weeks. I love you all so much!

Pics to come shortly,

Jennifer

Getting back on the wagon.....

Hey ya'll,

I'm back.

Life throws you curve balls....you can either swing and miss or knock it out of the park.

I am going to complete my 12 races in 2012.
I am going to complete my HALF MARATHON on my 30th birthday.

I have to finish things that I start, that is how I am wired.

Now, let's talk business. Today I started training for the half marathon. Not only did I start, but my sister-in-law JAYNNA started!! I am so excited to have Jaynna coming along. We have been through a lot together and love each other dearly. That Jaynna is a trooper. She likes to be motivated and I like to boss...that makes us a wonderful team.

The training course is a 12 week program, we have 15 weeks til the race. I know, I know! We are gonna double up until we get to 12 weeks away for endurance purposes. This and next week we have to run around 10 miles. :)

Oh!!! Did I mention the midnight run is Friday night? Yep, it sure is. Hopefully, I will have some running buddies join me. HINT HINT.

Where is Heather?? Listen ya'll, skinny 24 year old chicks don't have to train as much as chubby mothers. But to answer your question....Yes she is still in it!!

More to come tomorrow!!

Love,

Jennifer

PS. Hubby ran 1.5 miles. He did pretty good....if I have to admit that. ;)

Hello loves!

Immmmmm baaaccck.
I needed a break like a cat needs a scratching pole.

Here's the deal. I'm changing jobs. So I am working at 2 places, going to school and inheriting my nephew Ben a few days a week. I'm busy, moody and tired. I had to put something on the back burner so I picked running....

Man,  I'm paying for the break. The humidity is terrible! I will survive though. I started the 10k program and I am almost done with week 1. Whoohooo!  Our next race is July 15th in Cullman. Can we count you in???

Off to study for a math test!

It's me again.....after a week off.

I start back fresh tomorrow...running, dieting, living, loving, working, blogging and schooling.

Here is the latest countdown....

60 DAYS TIL BEACH

90 DAYS TIL SUGAR STARTS SCHOOL

180 DAYS TIL HALF MARATHON

I need a good vacation to help my nerves with the middle issue. ;)

Race #5

Let me start this entry out to say it is a sad day in the Frasier Family. Today, we will have the funeral of Derek's grandmother.  I did not know her very long, but the time I had with her was filled with laughter and love. We will miss MawMaw. She was very healthy and this was totally unexpected. Don't miss an opportunity to tell your family and friends you love them.

I wrestled the idea of not running today. I was afraid of being disrespectful to the memory of Margaret. After the blessings of my family, I decided to continue with my plans.

This is race #5. For 5 consecutive months we have participated in a race. Go us!!!! This race was in my stomping grounds. The big town of Holly Pond. The course went directly in front of my house, which  was kinda neat I thought. The plan was to have the family sit in the front yard and support us....but due to the death in the family that didn't take place.

Stacie joined Heather and yours truly for this run. We are so excited she "may" finish out the year with us. :D

Ok race details....Heather and I drove this course a couple of times the week prior.  We took mental snap shots of all mile and half mile markers. Speaking for myself, it was so much easier mentally to know....ok and the Glasscock's house it is 1.5 and the bottom of the hill is 2.5. I was able to talk myself into running almost all of it except the giant hill. There were 3 nice sized hills in this race....I hated everyone of them. Heather started the race like every race....dodging people running off and leaving us. Stacie pulled away early as well about half a mile into it. This girl is all about a slow pace :D. Mile one was after two semi steep hills. (Why don't they water us at every mile?) My house was 1.6 in the course. I heard a little voice yelling "go momma" which melted my heart. Another neat fact, I knew someone at the watering station... Stacie Olinger. It is always good to see a friendly face when you think you may be having a heat stroke. Next on the agenda, this was the most humid race we have done. I have never sweated that much in my life. I took a picture at mile two....I looked like a cherry. We finished, downed bottles of water quickly, snapped a few pictures and waited on awards.

I really want to place in at least one race. It will make me so happy. I guess I need to step up my training. Lol. Stacie and I did not medal in this one, but Heather won 1st in her age division! This time she wasn't the only one in her division ;);). Congrats to little Heather, I am so proud of my friends!!

Our times.....I don't know theirs but will post asap.

Love y'all,

Jennifer

Hi!!!

How is everyone at 0300???  I'm wide awake and oncall.

Ok here's the scoop on the running stuff in my life.....

Saturday, we are doing race #5. The course goes right in front on my house. ;D

Wednesday (May 9th) there is a charity 5k in Cullman for Andrew Winfrey. Heather will not be attending, she will be on a cruise for her anniversary.  So this race will not be #6. ( It's a good way for Lashay to catch up....just sayin.)

WE NEED A RACE FOR JUNE!!! Be on the look out!

We have some fun and some very difficult races ahead. It is not too late to join us....

Race #4

I made a goal and I'm sticking to it.

So, I worked last night. I got to leave a few hours early....early enough to take a nap and feel terrible. At 0700 my alarm clock went off and I said, oh heck to the NOOOO. A few minutes later my sweet little Heather called me. "Wake up" says this rested voice. At that time I wanted to choke her. I basically was guilted into getting my sleepy crack up.

We chose to run #4 at Fairview in honor of a cancer patient. The place was crawling with high school kids. When the race started they were gone like the wind. These girls know better than that. At half a mile they were dropping like flies. It felt good to be going on 30 smoking a bunch of high school kids :) I had no music to run with I was totally bummed. (Sidenote-I heart radio does not work in the sticks! I must get my ipod updated asap!)

So here is the results you all long to know.

Heather-30:49

Me 37:55

Bascially, being sick and junk killed us. Next race is in 2 weeks in Holly Pond. It runs right in front of our house!!!! I'm supposed to have a group of cheerleaders in our front yard :).  I want to run in in 33 or less. By the end of this, I would like to.run a 5k in 30 or less. I gotta get back on the training bandwagon and take vitamin c. :)

Omg! There are people missing.....where is Lashey and Stacie???  Stacie is sick.:(( and Lashay is trying her best to get graduated from nursing school.  I hope we see them in Holly Pond!

Well it's nap time. Will restart 10k program tomorrow!!!

Love y'all

Jennifer

Ps. Not very many pictures were taken. Sorry we lacked motivation. Lots of pictures promised in Holly Pond.

2 steps back....

The sick down time has killed my running :(. I am going to have to restart the 10k progam. My endurance has dropped big time. I ran a practice 5k on a track. It was tough. But, I guess it is part of it. Today, I am gonna run some hills and Saturday is race #4. I hope I finish in at least 40 minutes. No joke

I have decided I'm the worst dieter known to man. Gotta get my beach body ready though. NO EXCUSES. ;)

Watch for race #4!!!!

So, week 3 of 10k program is the week I missed and where I will pick back up.....and I caved on the Dr. Pepper issues. It's all good. I will start again.....tomorrow, tomorrow. Jk, enough singing.

This and that...

Today, I started week 2 of the 10k program. Let's just say I'm getting better. Yes, I will toot my own horn. I've never stuck to any exercise like this before. I'm proud of me, regardless of what people think ;).

The Dr. Pepper fasting is going slowly. I am down to one a day because of headaches. Soon, I will rid that habit in my life.

I hope this adventure brings me down 5-10 pounds by the April race. I'm not weighing til then. I will keep you posted...my sweets.

I am super glad the weather has perked up!! It is shorts and tank top time and I am loving it. Tomorrow, I am taking mom to the Dr in bham. Hopefully, I can find a fleet feet and get some awesome new shorts with my gift card and bribe mom to spend money on me :).

Lashay- this section is for you because you called me out. I love little Lashay....she has like 40 days left in nursing school. She will catch up on the race that she is behind....we will see to it. Heather and I will take one for the team and run an extra for her!!

oh yeah!!!!

Week 1 has been completed of the 10k program....5 to go.

I have to say if Heather wouldn't have came to my house this evening and made me fill guilty, I probably would still be in the bed. It was a long hard weekend and this chick was exhausted. We did 5 miles and ran the stadium stairs for 5 minutes. It was great!  I have been running alone the past several times. It is encouraging to have a buddy with you.

She dropped me off at home and I immediately started the 30 day shred. It was a 20-30 minute dvd. Wowza. It will make you sweat.

So the next 30 days we are kicking it up a notch. The plan: Run at least 3 days a week per the program-more is great, 30 day ab/shred program of our choice, no carbonated drinks, and follow my fitness pal app diet. This will be mentally challenging for me because I LOVE DR PEPPER. With that being said, I'm willing to see what the 30 day outcome will be. The 30 day span will be ending on the day of our next 5k, so that works out fantastic!!!

Tomorrow is a much needed girl running day. We are all going to Heritage in the morning and running til we puke. You know I will take pics.:)

Remember the pink shoes??

The pink shoes were a disappointment.  The most action they see is being propped up at the park. No really, I tried to make it work. The truth is the support is just not there, I end up with sore knees and an aching back. A plus is they are ventilated well and they are CUTE.

You might see me in walmart this summer with them on....be on the look out!!

Random

So, I started the 10k program. Wowza. You wanna challenge yourself, this is the way to go!  I have been adding hills in my training because the Orphan Race slapped me in the face. It was intense. Two days down this week and 1 to go. Can't wait for some R and R when week 1 has been completed. ;)

Next on the agenda....I called my dad and talked to him about running. **background info** Dad ran a lot when I was a kid. I remember he would drop us off and the public swimming pool for hours (yes we were great swimmers to all you nay-sayers) and he would run miles upon miles. I remember going to his 5ks while mom was asleep (nightshifter) and he told us to hang around the finish line. *insert time has changed thought* I couldn't imagine doing that with John nowadays. Anywho, I asked Popsi what his 5k time was and he preceded to tell me, "well when I started my time was 23-24 min and when I stopped racing it was 18-19 minutes." Really?  Thanks dad for making me feel like a LOSER. :) I'm gonna say that this is only because he was a Marine. (Only to help my ego) Guess that means I'm gonna have to step it up.

Speaking of stepping it up....some of you have mentioned that you are gonna run with me. There is no better time like the present!

Finally, this weather is amazing. I am getting to break out the shorts and tanning my legs!!! This is my favorite time of the year. If you are not taking advantage of 70 degree weather in March, you seriously have issues. My prediction is a strong cold snap with some snow the beginning of April. I hope I'm wrong.

Love to all my Leprechauns,

Low and behold...

Yesterday, I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Why you ask??  1) I am disappointed in my orphan run time 2) I am lacking motivation to start 10k program 3) I got unwanted news from UAH today.....I could go on and on and on. You know how I feel, I know you do.

So....I go on facebook to do a little stalking...low and behold I have a private message. It is from my nursing school friend Amy. :)  In a nut shell it said that I have inspired her to start running and she loves reading my blog. (O.M.G. I love these messages) This one is different because I needed some inspiration myself. It read that she gets me, where I am in life. That I work full-time, go to school, have wife and mom duties, tend to my home and I still am training for my run.

So, you are thinking, what's the big deal???  Well, the last of the message said that I have taken the "I don't have time" excuse away from her. Well, Amy my sister....you found me sitting on my couch making excuses. So, thank you for lighting a fire under my tail and helping me kick-start my 10k program. Good luck sister starting your running adventure!!!

Thanks to everyone who supports us.

Race #3....

Whelp folks, we finished race #3 in Cullman called the Hope for One Less Orphan 5k. These people are  adopting a child from China, we were tickled pink to help out.

I've been telling you there would be some new faces at this race and now it's time to reveal them. My sweet friend Andy and his beautiful wife Sarah adopted a little girl from China. So the Hinson's bundled up and came to support the cause. Their adorable sons, James and Joseph, participated in the 5k and did a spectacular job!!! Mr. James was my motivation to keep running. The new addition to their family, Emily Margaret, had a blast playing with John and the men folks. She is a DOLL. John asked Sarah if we could have her...the verdit is still out.

Our other friendly face was none other that little Stacie Malin. She was amazing for someone who 'hasn't been running'. We were so glad to have her join the crew and look for her sweet face many times in the future!!!

You know ole faithful Heather was their with her cray cray husband Ryne. They are so much fun and I love spending time with them.

Finally, Derek was off of work and it was warm enough to bring my baby John. Yay!!  There is nothing more heart warming than seeing your child cheering you on. Love it!

Now to the race! Heather and her hubby Ryne drove the course and assured me that the course had very little incline. Ummm. Yeah. NO. Can you say multiple hills.... more hills than we have ever ran before. So needless to say, my time was not the best. I started with Heather and of course she left me, as well as Stacie and Joseph. (I left my rope at home to tie around the Hinson children, dang it). So I had sweet little James to run with. He did great!!!

Now, Heather was under the weather and I've been instructed not to post Stacie's time.....Yours truly and James did their time around 36. Joseph slaughtered us all with a time in the 20s. Again, why did I forget the rope??

We all won door prizes which was awesome! The best news of all HEATHER AND STACIE WON MEDALS. Wowza so proud of my girlz.

The best part of all... we spent Saturday with friends helping a family adopt a precious child. That is alot better than sleeping the day away. What a blessing to have amazing people in my life!

Next on the agenda is a 10k at the blooming festival. YIKES. This girl needs to stay motivated and practice, practice, practice.

I am ready for a nap. I will post pictures this afternoon.

Love y'all,

Jennifer

I was instructed to update my blog by one of my besties (even though they haven't updated theirs). So here goes...

I'm alive!!! I didn't run any this week and I have a orphan 5k in the am. My time will be terrible.....prepare yourself. My little Lashay will not make it to this run. Makes me sad. :(

I am gonna start bridge to 10k Sunday .....for real this time. Bless. I've been busy and lil John has been sick.

Our first 10k is April 21st(ish)....it is a trail run :/. So if you see me ask about my running to motivate me lol.

Our first roadblock ....

The plan was to run in the Hospice 5k today. I had a lapse in communication regarding proper child care that put a damper on the run. Luckily, this will not mess us up!!  We are running in the orphan run in Cullman on Saturday!  Yay!

Tomorrow I am starting the 'Bridge to 10k' program. I am so excited!!!!

I now have to decide on a healthy eating plan for the family. We are all picky eaters in our on ways...this will be difficult! We love fried chicken and chili cheese burgers way to much. I really want to start seeing the weight come off of me and the toned muscle show through! Any healthy recipes are welcomed.

Wowza.

Lashay is the coolest cat that I know. This gurl found a run for us to do in October that is AMAZING. Now, these crazy girls wanted to do the mud run...which would be fun....but this run takes the cake. Check out the link and tell me what you think. www.thecolorun.com

Where is the LoVe??

I have fallen out of love with my ipod.

I never thought I would utter these words but Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry are killing my running game. Don't get me wrong, they are great singer-songwriters but.... every day is not a love, peace and flowers kind of day when I'm running. Sometimes I want to hear something a little more angry :). (When my parent and Derek read this I will get a speech about my music selection.) With that being said, it never hurts to have Gold Digga, Kiss Kiss, Moves Like Jagger, You and I, Edge of Glory, Nelly Furtado, T-pain or Lil Wayne to get your adrenaline pumping.

So you are thinking...well chick why don't you update your ipod?? Well, there is a couple a reasons...1) I'm a computer retard- Jaynna actually helped me with what I have on there 2) Derek will kill me if I revamp my entire ipod- financially speaking and 3) my ipod can't hold what all I want! So on this day of LÕVË I bring you my newest find.... the I Heart Radio app. I have my running station set on Fergie and The Peas. My sleeping time station is on sweet little Adelle. House cleaning I prefer Josh Turner stations (it should be illegal to have that sexy of a voice, just saying) Confession I have 8 different stations for house cleaning depending on my level of depression lol. I love this app!!!!  You can like or dislike songs while they play and the app will play more or less of what you prefer. My only complaint is you can only skip like 5 times in an hour....skip carefully. :)

PS

I took a facebook poll and was shocked at some of your vulgar music preferences. My momma would be so proud of me ;). BLESS!

Kisses to my Cupids!
