March is an exiting month for the trio. Be watching for....2 races, change in running programs, new faces and spring attire!!!!

Wowza.

Lashay is the coolest cat that I know. This gurl found a run for us to do in October that is AMAZING. Now, these crazy girls wanted to do the mud run...which would be fun....but this run takes the cake. Check out the link and tell me what you think. www.thecolorun.com

Where is the LoVe??

I have fallen out of love with my ipod.

I never thought I would utter these words but Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry are killing my running game. Don't get me wrong, they are great singer-songwriters but.... every day is not a love, peace and flowers kind of day when I'm running. Sometimes I want to hear something a little more angry :). (When my parent and Derek read this I will get a speech about my music selection.) With that being said, it never hurts to have Gold Digga, Kiss Kiss, Moves Like Jagger, You and I, Edge of Glory, Nelly Furtado, T-pain or Lil Wayne to get your adrenaline pumping.

So you are thinking...well chick why don't you update your ipod?? Well, there is a couple a reasons...1) I'm a computer retard- Jaynna actually helped me with what I have on there 2) Derek will kill me if I revamp my entire ipod- financially speaking and 3) my ipod can't hold what all I want! So on this day of LÕVË I bring you my newest find.... the I Heart Radio app. I have my running station set on Fergie and The Peas. My sleeping time station is on sweet little Adelle. House cleaning I prefer Josh Turner stations (it should be illegal to have that sexy of a voice, just saying) Confession I have 8 different stations for house cleaning depending on my level of depression lol. I love this app!!!!  You can like or dislike songs while they play and the app will play more or less of what you prefer. My only complaint is you can only skip like 5 times in an hour....skip carefully. :)

PS

I took a facebook poll and was shocked at some of your vulgar music preferences. My momma would be so proud of me ;). BLESS!

Kisses to my Cupids!

Race #2 pics!

Published with Blogger-droid v2.0.4

Race #2. Mercedes 5k

Well folks, we finished our second race. Praise the Lord!!!

Let's start with Friday night....We all decided to stay in Birmingham instead of fighting traffic on race day. We stayed at the Sherraton. We all stayed in the same room, which was a HOOT. Lashay camped out in a sleeping bag in the floor...bless! We all had the giggles till about 0130ish and had a great time bonding with friends.

Race day we woke up T.I.R.E.D. All that bonding caught up with us. We got dressed, ate the 22 buck buffet and hit the road. People, it was COLD. I'm talking need to run in a parka cold. Thank the good Lord, I was supplied with plenty of thermal, hand warmers and thick socks! We made it to the starting line with time to spare.

The race was beyond sub zero conditions.  The last race I tuned out the cold...this race...the wind kept reminding me. It literally took my breath and chapped my face (which I am currently trying to soothe). I ran with 3 layers and froze to death! 1224 runners participated. The atmosphere was incredible. The adrenaline was pumping and there were camera crews everywhere.

The race started promptly at 0745. Meaning, some guy was trying to give a speech and they basically told him to end it so they could fire the gun. BANG!! We are off and running. We positioned ourselves upfront, which later I learned was a great idea because the people behind us were so crowded they couldn't run for a little while. The best part, to me, was the unknowns cheering us all the way. I asked the volunteers handing out water what mile we were on....they had no idea. How do you not know that? The crowd was so supportive, even the b'ham PD. (It makes it easy to run with people yelling at me). Some person had a sign saying "Run like ur being chased by zombies" Lol. When the race lapped back on itself, I saw Heather and then Lashay. We exchanged celebratory 'whooohoos'. I ended up only walking 1/2 mile. I was impressed of my ability to keep a steady paced run with the wind and all. When I walked some lady said "RUN!! The finished line is 1/2 mile away gurl". That gave me the extra energy to kick it in high gear! Then suddenly, I hear the most amazing sound ever....the crowd and announcer at the finish line. I saw Derek, Heather and Ryne cheering me on at the finish line. I was so happy to see them!!! I enjoyed the hugs, high fives and knuckles. It meant a lot to know that the menfolk stood out in the cold to watch us finish this race. It was an amazing experience! We will be back in the 'Ham' doing the half marathon and I'm glad about that!!!

Thank you to all the texts, calls and facebook support. I love my friends so much!!! I am truly blessed to know all of you! A big thank you to Derek and Ryne for going with us. If they wouldn't have came with us, we would still be driving around looking for the parking deck! It is nice to feel supported by family and friends. It makes it all worth it.

Now to the results!

Brag moment.

My little John is getting so big. I love that he wants to play and be active outside. He still goes running with me (when it is not too wet). The best news ever....he may really do a 1 mile fun run this spring. Eeeek. So exciting. I will keep you posted!!!

I completed 6 miles today. It felt so good for my motivation, not so good for my twisted ankle. A ice pack and medical support, from my mini doctor or nurse ;), was just what I needed.

6 days till next race. Be watching for pictures and goal breaking news!!! This time better pictures are promised!

"Fortitudine Vincimus"

SO, here are my goings on....

I am a full-time wife, mother, daughter, BFF, sister, sister-in-law, RN, daughter-in-law, cousin, aunt,  grandchild, student (preparing for NP school) and an aspiring runner. Should I add blogger??!  Now that I write it all down....I kinda see a little value to my life! Anywho, I signed up for THREE classes...not online..meaning I have to go to Wallace 4 days a week!!! It is killing me. Some days I go 36 hours without sleep easily. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for a short cut or an easy ride. I know this is a busy life that I own and I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm just needing some answers to shed light on my school path. This IS the best thing for me to do right? It is only 2 years....just a little overwhelmed and exhausted right now. I can't see the forest for the trees. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I finish this semester and get all applications in to UAH by April 15th!

Moving on...race update. Almost a week away from our 2nd race. I am pumped!!! I can't wait to see how I have improved since race #1. Lashay, Heather and I , are going to Birmingham next Friday to the Merecedes Race Expo. Here, we will pick up our packets, numbers and official timers. Apparently, this is a BIG deal in the "ham" and they give away tons of free goodies to the runners. How awesome is it, that we are in a "runner" category now???  Eeeek. I'm excited!

I have so much more energy from running (when I'm not awake 36 hours) and it is a wonderful feeling! If you are needing a stress reliever or you want to get healthy...check on a running program. If you can't find one, message me, I would be honored to help you.

So, if you haven't already googled the title of this post, I will leave you with the interpretation. "Fortitudine Vincimus" is a Latin phrase that has been used for years, most recently you may have heard it from Phil Moneypenny (an Explorer of Antarctica). It simply means, "by endurance we conquer". I think I may have discovered what we need to print on our t-shirts for the half marathon. Lastly, I think I have found the answer to my school rant as well!

Jenn
