Jealousy!

I am so proud of Heather!  She is on vacation at the beach enjoying the sun, sand and tide. I am a little jealous too. Check out by bff sticking to our new years resolution running at the beach!  You go girl! Now, just know I will not be showing that much skin when I am at the beach. Lol. Yay Heather!

This and that...

Today, I started week 2 of the 10k program. Let's just say I'm getting better. Yes, I will toot my own horn. I've never stuck to any exercise like this before. I'm proud of me, regardless of what people think ;).

The Dr. Pepper fasting is going slowly. I am down to one a day because of headaches. Soon, I will rid that habit in my life.

I hope this adventure brings me down 5-10 pounds by the April race. I'm not weighing til then. I will keep you posted...my sweets.

I am super glad the weather has perked up!! It is shorts and tank top time and I am loving it. Tomorrow, I am taking mom to the Dr in bham. Hopefully, I can find a fleet feet and get some awesome new shorts with my gift card and bribe mom to spend money on me :).

Lashay- this section is for you because you called me out. I love little Lashay....she has like 40 days left in nursing school. She will catch up on the race that she is behind....we will see to it. Heather and I will take one for the team and run an extra for her!!

Loves to my loves,

Jennifer

oh yeah!!!!

Week 1 has been completed of the 10k program....5 to go.

I have to say if Heather wouldn't have came to my house this evening and made me fill guilty, I probably would still be in the bed. It was a long hard weekend and this chick was exhausted. We did 5 miles and ran the stadium stairs for 5 minutes. It was great!  I have been running alone the past several times. It is encouraging to have a buddy with you.

She dropped me off at home and I immediately started the 30 day shred. It was a 20-30 minute dvd. Wowza. It will make you sweat.

So the next 30 days we are kicking it up a notch. The plan: Run at least 3 days a week per the program-more is great, 30 day ab/shred program of our choice, no carbonated drinks, and follow my fitness pal app diet. This will be mentally challenging for me because I LOVE DR PEPPER. With that being said, I'm willing to see what the 30 day outcome will be. The 30 day span will be ending on the day of our next 5k, so that works out fantastic!!!

Tomorrow is a much needed girl running day. We are all going to Heritage in the morning and running til we puke. You know I will take pics.:)

Jennifer

Remember the pink shoes??

The pink shoes were a disappointment.  The most action they see is being propped up at the park. No really, I tried to make it work. The truth is the support is just not there, I end up with sore knees and an aching back. A plus is they are ventilated well and they are CUTE.

You might see me in walmart this summer with them on....be on the look out!!

Random

So, I started the 10k program. Wowza. You wanna challenge yourself, this is the way to go!  I have been adding hills in my training because the Orphan Race slapped me in the face. It was intense. Two days down this week and 1 to go. Can't wait for some R and R when week 1 has been completed. ;)

Next on the agenda....I called my dad and talked to him about running. **background info** Dad ran a lot when I was a kid. I remember he would drop us off and the public swimming pool for hours (yes we were great swimmers to all you nay-sayers) and he would run miles upon miles. I remember going to his 5ks while mom was asleep (nightshifter) and he told us to hang around the finish line. *insert time has changed thought* I couldn't imagine doing that with John nowadays. Anywho, I asked Popsi what his 5k time was and he preceded to tell me, "well when I started my time was 23-24 min and when I stopped racing it was 18-19 minutes." Really?  Thanks dad for making me feel like a LOSER. :) I'm gonna say that this is only because he was a Marine. (Only to help my ego) Guess that means I'm gonna have to step it up.

Speaking of stepping it up....some of you have mentioned that you are gonna run with me. There is no better time like the present!

Finally, this weather is amazing. I am getting to break out the shorts and tanning my legs!!! This is my favorite time of the year. If you are not taking advantage of 70 degree weather in March, you seriously have issues. My prediction is a strong cold snap with some snow the beginning of April. I hope I'm wrong.

Love to all my Leprechauns,

Jennifer

Low and behold...

Yesterday, I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Why you ask??  1) I am disappointed in my orphan run time 2) I am lacking motivation to start 10k program 3) I got unwanted news from UAH today.....I could go on and on and on. You know how I feel, I know you do.

So....I go on facebook to do a little stalking...low and behold I have a private message. It is from my nursing school friend Amy. :)  In a nut shell it said that I have inspired her to start running and she loves reading my blog. (O.M.G. I love these messages) This one is different because I needed some inspiration myself. It read that she gets me, where I am in life. That I work full-time, go to school, have wife and mom duties, tend to my home and I still am training for my run.

So, you are thinking, what's the big deal???  Well, the last of the message said that I have taken the "I don't have time" excuse away from her. Well, Amy my sister....you found me sitting on my couch making excuses. So, thank you for lighting a fire under my tail and helping me kick-start my 10k program. Good luck sister starting your running adventure!!!

Thanks to everyone who supports us.

Change o' Plans

Attention!!  Attention!!!!  We are signing up for the 5k at the Blooming Festival in April, NOT the 10k. We took a poll and decided to get better at 5k before we moved on to 10k. There are plenty of opportunities in the last half of the year to do 10k. Just wanted to pass on the info.:)

Race #3....

Whelp folks, we finished race #3 in Cullman called the Hope for One Less Orphan 5k. These people are  adopting a child from China, we were tickled pink to help out.

I've been telling you there would be some new faces at this race and now it's time to reveal them. My sweet friend Andy and his beautiful wife Sarah adopted a little girl from China. So the Hinson's bundled up and came to support the cause. Their adorable sons, James and Joseph, participated in the 5k and did a spectacular job!!! Mr. James was my motivation to keep running. The new addition to their family, Emily Margaret, had a blast playing with John and the men folks. She is a DOLL. John asked Sarah if we could have her...the verdit is still out.

Our other friendly face was none other that little Stacie Malin. She was amazing for someone who 'hasn't been running'. We were so glad to have her join the crew and look for her sweet face many times in the future!!!

You know ole faithful Heather was their with her cray cray husband Ryne. They are so much fun and I love spending time with them.

Finally, Derek was off of work and it was warm enough to bring my baby John. Yay!!  There is nothing more heart warming than seeing your child cheering you on. Love it!

Now to the race! Heather and her hubby Ryne drove the course and assured me that the course had very little incline. Ummm. Yeah. NO. Can you say multiple hills.... more hills than we have ever ran before. So needless to say, my time was not the best. I started with Heather and of course she left me, as well as Stacie and Joseph. (I left my rope at home to tie around the Hinson children, dang it). So I had sweet little James to run with. He did great!!!

Now, Heather was under the weather and I've been instructed not to post Stacie's time.....Yours truly and James did their time around 36. Joseph slaughtered us all with a time in the 20s. Again, why did I forget the rope??

We all won door prizes which was awesome! The best news of all HEATHER AND STACIE WON MEDALS. Wowza so proud of my girlz.

The best part of all... we spent Saturday with friends helping a family adopt a precious child. That is alot better than sleeping the day away. What a blessing to have amazing people in my life!

Next on the agenda is a 10k at the blooming festival. YIKES. This girl needs to stay motivated and practice, practice, practice.

I am ready for a nap. I will post pictures this afternoon.

Love y'all,

Jennifer

I am alive....

I was instructed to update my blog by one of my besties (even though they haven't updated theirs). So here goes...

I'm alive!!! I didn't run any this week and I have a orphan 5k in the am. My time will be terrible.....prepare yourself. My little Lashay will not make it to this run. Makes me sad. :(

I am gonna start bridge to 10k Sunday .....for real this time. Bless. I've been busy and lil John has been sick.

Our first 10k is April 21st(ish)....it is a trail run :/. So if you see me ask about my running to motivate me lol.

Have a peachy evening!

Our first roadblock ....

The plan was to run in the Hospice 5k today. I had a lapse in communication regarding proper child care that put a damper on the run. Luckily, this will not mess us up!!  We are running in the orphan run in Cullman on Saturday!  Yay!

Tomorrow I am starting the 'Bridge to 10k' program. I am so excited!!!!

I now have to decide on a healthy eating plan for the family. We are all picky eaters in our on ways...this will be difficult! We love fried chicken and chili cheese burgers way to much. I really want to start seeing the weight come off of me and the toned muscle show through! Any healthy recipes are welcomed.
